Are Air Jordan Shoes Your Favorite Sneaker?

I think it is safe to say that no matter where you go in the world, just about everyone has heard of the great Michael Jordan. As much as I hate to say it, that name will always be more well known than any basketball player in the past and even in the future; sorry Kobe. For those that know me, they are confident that I can hold my own in a debate on why Kobe Bryant is better than MJ, but I am not going into that right now as it is not my purpose for writing this article. Instead my purpose is to talk about what Jordan Shoes have done for not only basketball, but the sneaker culture as a whole. We all know about Michael not liking the first pair of Air Jordan 1s that were ever made, and how the NBA gave both he and Nike a hard time for thinking and stepping outside the box, even fining them.

I always find it interesting that Jordan did not just give up, and say scratch the idea of having his own signature shoe. I know he is glad he did not do anything silly like that What is obvious is the fast that Nike is now a heavyweight in the fashion and business world, and they would probably be smaller had the Jordan Brand never surfaced. What I am saying is that I honestly feel that without the Air Jordan brand, there is no way the Nike would be the Nike that we all know and love. The other thing that is for sure is that MJ would not be nearly as well known as he is, featured on everything from commercials to billboards to movies to music videos, and the list goes on and on. Towards the top of that list is the fact that MJ now has his own basketball team, which most if not all bball players that were in the NBA in the late 80s and 90s would not have believe that if they were told some of these details back then.

What is crazy to me is the fact that the biggest supporters of the Jordan brand products are kids under the age 18. If you do the math you will realized that most if not all of them saw Jordan play in this prime. I am not saying that everyone who wears or wants a Jordan shoe needs to have seen him play, but it is just to show how far reaching his products have become.
